Description

Allergies can wreak havoc and make us truly miserable! Those that suffer with them live this truth and know the misery first hand. Lucky for allergy-sufferers, there are some natural remedies that can help alleviate some of the suffering. Years ago, before I learned about the power of herbs, I personally use to take a benadryl every night to help fight my allergies until I read about benadryl contributing to alzheimer's! No thanks! This herbal tea blend for allergies is one of the most effective remedies I have found. As an herbalist I take great pride in my recipes being balanced, tasty and more importantly- effective. This tea is very mild tasting with a hint of cinnamon and peppermint at the finish. I highly suggest adding some LOCAL raw honey to this tea for an even bigger allergy fighting punch. It also tastes delicious with a tbsp of our elderberry and honey tonic added in, the flavors blend beautifully and customers have told me it makes it taste like "chai" tea when mixed with elderberry.

Our handmade tea is made to order, therefore it is fresher than anything you will find in the store. Loose-leaf tea is more effective because the herbs are not sealed up and every inch of them are touched by the hot water and allow for higher extraction of the nutrients. Bagged teas are sealed shut on all sides with toxic glue - always go with loose-leaf tea, whenever possible, for this reason.

This blend is unique and high in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and antihistamines. It is caffeine and sugar free. I chose each herb carefully and prayerfully for either their histamine reducing properties and/or high vitamin C content. It is essential to have adequate levels of vitamin c to reduce histamine inflammation from seasonal allergies. The rose hips and orange peel provide a natural source of vitamin C.

SERVING SUGGESTION

Serving Size for one cup of tea is around 1-3 tsp per 8 oz of hot (just below boiling) water. However, a different tea to water ratio may be used to strengthen or weaken the effects. Steep 10-20 minutes in a covered cup for maximum allergy reducing benefits. Covering, helps prevent any nutrients from escaping in the form of steam.

A stronger infusion can also be made by putting 1/4 cup of herbal tea in a quart mason jar, pouring hot water over it, and letting it sit overnight in the fridge before straining. This is my personal preferred method as my tea is ready to go every morning, I just make it at night and it's ready to go the next day in a strong infusion.

SIZING
2.25 oz bag- makes up to 75 cups of tea (if using 1 tsp of herbs)

OPTION of stainless steel mesh ball (not required- choose "without strainer" if you only want tea) to purchase a metal mesh tea ball strainer in the following options, see pictures. All are top rack dishwasher safe:

- stainless steel mesh ball with locking component and hook that hangs over top of mug (+$3.50)

*please note these are very fine mesh strainers but little bits of herbs still can get through at times.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This tea takes time to build up in your system. If you really want to reduce your allergy symptoms you need to drink at least one cup (preferably two) every day. I know, it's a commitment. How I truly wish we could just drink this once a month and reduce alleregy symptoms but that is not the way herbal remedies work. But, you and your health are worth the commitment. You have a beautiful, allergy free life to live! Live it as it was meant to be! Full of energy without the sneezing, watery eyes, and foggy brain! Trust me, I have been there and the commitment is worth it. If you've had allergy/sinus problems for a while, they're not going to disappear overnight, or in a week or two. Please keep at it a while after you’re feeling better to ensure you STAY better. Other allergy tips- I would recommend supplementing with at least 1,000-2,000 mg of vitamin c powdered (in the form of powdered ascorbic acid or camu camu) every day as well if you have severe allergies, in addition to this tea. I personally take 3,000 mg of ascorbic acid vitamin C during allergy season to reduce the histamine load. Also, eat beets! Believe it or not, they help seasonal allergies as well!
